Did you know that the bus is the most ecological means of transport? A full bus not only takes up to 50 cars off the road, it also has a better environmental rating per person than planes and trains.
In a recent report from the United Nations, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, revealed that Earth’s temperature will soar past a key danger point unless greenhouse gas emissions fall faster than countries have committed. A 2019 report from the American Bus Association Foundation states that, on average, buses use the least amount of energy and produce the lowest carbon dioxide emissions per passenger mile compared to cars, vanpools, train heavy, intercity rail, suburban rail and domestic air travel.
Another point in favor of the use of buses is that they are not tied only to centers and stations. Buses transport millions of people daily on scheduled intercity routes that connect rural areas with urban centers when there are no other means of transportation; provide affordable vacation opportunities for families across the country; ensure that elementary and middle school students can attend school and extracurricular events; they transport service men and women from base to base and pick them up when they return home; transport school and professional sports teams to events; and help citizens evacuate and repatriate in the event of natural disasters.
Buses are also cheap, especially now in times of high gas prices and inflation. A recent study by Longwoods International, which studies travelers, showed that fuel prices will affect travel decisions for the foreseeable future. Rising prices at gas stations have led travelers to choose destinations closer to home and even reduce the number of trips they plan to take.
Take a trip to a national park. Make friends while traveling to a new city. Do you want a small and intimate trip with only friends and family? Buses come in all sizes to suit the needs of customers and can go where other forms of transportation cannot.
So while you’re considering where to go on your next trip that won’t break the bank or harm the environment, consider booking a bus ride and enjoy the adventure.
